Passengers taking international flights from Long Thanh airport to pay $25 service fee

Passengers flying internationally from Long Thanh Airport will be required to pay a service fee of $25. This new fee is part of the airport's preparatory phase as it prepares for its imminent opening. Currently, all three major international airports in Vietnam will charge the same fee of VND90,909, which is equivalent to $3.50, for domestic passengers.

However, for international flights that were originally booked at Tan Son Nhat but later transferred to Long Thanh or vice versa, passengers will not face the $5 difference or receive a refund. Long Thanh Airport is in the process of developing its first phase, which is capable of handling 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually.

To minimize any potential disruptions, flights will gradually transition from Tan Son Nhat to Long Thanh as construction progresses. The Airports Corporation of Vietnam, the government agency responsible for managing 22 airports nationwide, has proposed that Long Thanh Airport will assume responsibility for all international routes exceeding 1,000 kilometers.

Additionally, the airport will manage irregular international flights and new routes when Tan Son Nhat reaches its full capacity. For domestic flights, airlines have the discretion to choose whether to operate out of Long Thanh Airport.
