Onomondo raises €100M+ to scale its global IoT infrastructure

Onomondo, a Copenhagen-based IoT infrastructure and connectivity company, has successfully raised more than €100 million in a significant investment led by Aspirity Partners. Aspirity has announced a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in the company. Denmark’s sovereign investment fund, EIFO, which has been backing Onomondo since 2021, will also increase its investment alongside Aspirity.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Onomondo has emerged as a pioneer in the global IoT infrastructure space. The company's technology stack enables the processing of vast amounts of data, allowing intelligence to be deployed directly at the ‘Edge’ of devices. Onomondo's infrastructure spans the device, Radio Access Network (RAN), and cloud, providing enterprises with total control, flexibility, and orchestration over their assets.

This seamless ecosystem is powered by Onomondo's proprietary technology, including its SoftSIM technology and the ability to deploy hybrid public and private networks. One notable example is the deployment of what is believed to be the world's largest private LTE network at sea across more than 450 Maersk vessels, enabling seamless transitions between private shipboard networks and global public networks.

With over 500 customers, including industry giants like Maersk, Carlsberg, and Husqvarna, Onomondo's technology is transforming how connected devices collect, process, and act on real-world data in remote locations. The company's CTO and co-founder, Henrik Aagaard, emphasizes that the traditional market approach of offering simple connectivity and leaving enterprises to manage operational complexity has been replaced by a fundamentally different strategy.

CEO Rasmus Jensen highlights that while previous approaches focused on providing simple connectivity, Onomondo has taken a unique approach by building the foundational infrastructure layer that addresses operational complexity.

The combined investment will enable Onomondo to expand its market reach and accelerate product development, positioning the company to capture new opportunities in the expanding global IoT landscape. Aspirity Partners sees a profound structural shift from simple endpoint connectivity to orchestrating a continuous fabric of connectivity.
