Noudar turns Qatar’s henna tradition into diamond jewellery

Qatari jewellery designer Noor Ali Hussain Alfardan is transforming traditional henna with removable diamond pieces, creating a fusion of Arabian heritage, modern design, and craftsmanship entirely within Qatar. Alfardan, the founder of Noudar Jewels, exhibited her latest creations at the Doha Jewellery Exhibition 2026. Inspired by personal experiences, she developed the henna jewellery collection to address the challenges of traditional henna, such as scent and fading.

The collection allows wearers to easily put on and remove diamond pieces, enabling them to create their unique henna designs. The brand, named after an Arabic word for gold, incorporates Omani-inspired patterns and henna motifs into contemporary jewellery. Noudar's popularity has grown steadily since its inception 14 years ago, with all 15 initial designs selling out at the fair.

One new piece, a ring that can transform into a bracelet, showcases the designer's fascination with watches and horology. Alfardan proudly reveals that all Noudar jewellery is designed and crafted in Qatar, often surprising visitors who assume it's made elsewhere. The designer hopes her international presence will inspire more Arab and young designers to embrace their craft and believe in their work.
