Nigeria’s Ben Dancer completes 168-hour dance marathon, awaits Guinness verdict

Benjamin Daniel, widely known as Ben Dancer, a 33-year-old Nigerian dancer, has successfully completed a grueling 168-hour dance marathon in Lagos with the aim of setting a new Guinness World Records title. Starting his challenge on Tuesday at Freedom Park in Lagos, Daniel sought to surpass the current record of 127 hours held by an individual for the longest dance marathon.

Daniel managed to reach the seven-day mark around 3am on Tuesday, but decided to extend his performance by an additional nine hours, ultimately concluding the marathon at midday on the following day. According to his team, Daniel's endeavor drew significant attention to Freedom Park, with numerous spectators joining in to cheer him on throughout the seven-day event.

Once the marathon was over, Daniel was promptly taken to the hospital for a thorough medical examination. The event generated considerable excitement as supporters from all over gathered to witness and encourage Daniel throughout this unprecedented achievement. Daniel, who boasts 18 years of experience in the professional dance scene, had a unique approach to his performance.

He blended various Nigerian dance styles such as Afrobeats, fuji, jazz, and zouk, into his act. Furthermore, Daniel wore a range of traditional Nigerian attire, including agbada and dashiki, at different intervals throughout the marathon, adding a cultural touch to the event.

The official Guinness World Records organization has acknowledged receipt of Daniel's application but has not yet confirmed the record. A spokesperson for Guinness World Records informed the BBC that the organization is currently awaiting Daniel's evidence before proceeding with an official review and verification process.
