Mumbai Crime: Anti-Corruption Bureau Books 2 BMC Engineers, Private Person Over ₹3.5 Lakh Bribe Demand In Govandi

Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has charged two Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) engineers and a private individual for demanding a ₹3.5 lakh bribe. The accused are G.H. Chandolkar, an Assistant Engineer in the M-East Ward, A.D. Dudhbhate, a Deputy Engineer in the same ward, and V. Khade, a private person. The alleged extortion took place in relation to work completed under the Pink Army scheme and public toilet cleanliness projects in the M-East Ward.

According to the complaint, the complainant, a 34-year-old man, was carrying out work for these schemes when the accused public servants demanded the hefty bribe to approve the bills for the completed work. Failing to pay the bribe, the complainant reported the incident to the ACB, which has now registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
