‘Micromanages too much’: Richa Chadha says Ali Fazal’s ‘obsession’ with their daughter can be irritating

Actress Richa Chadha recently disclosed that her husband Ali Fazal, the Mirzapur star, tends to be overly involved in caring for their newborn daughter Zunerya, sometimes micromanaging even minor aspects of the baby's routine. The pair married in 2020 and welcomed their daughter in July 2024. In an interview with Moviefied, Chadha commented that while Ali's dedication is admirable, it can occasionally be irritating.

According to Dr. Rimpa Sarkar, a specialist in new fatherhood, this excessive involvement is not unusual among new fathers. They often become overly invested due to the strong sense of responsibility and protectiveness that comes with parenthood. Such heightened engagement can provide a sense of control and reassurance for parents who feel uncertain about their new roles.

However, Sarkar pointed out that there is a difference between being an attentive parent and being overly involved. While an attentive parent asks questions, participates in childcare, and shares responsibilities, over-involvement can become controlling when one parent feels their way of doing things is the only correct way, repeatedly checking or correcting the other parent, or finding it difficult to trust them with routine decisions.

To maintain healthy co-parenting, Sarkar advised couples to establish clear boundaries on childcare decisions, allowing each parent to exercise their own judgement in certain areas.
