Meta targets SMBs with Muse AI that can run your business for you - but will anyone actually need it?

Meta has launched Muse for Small Business, an always-on AI platform designed to assist small businesses in managing various aspects of their operations. The AI platform functions similarly to OpenAI's Dots service, where users can set goals for AI agents, allowing them to handle administrative tasks such as running parts of the business and finding new customers.

Meta targets small businesses for Muse because they typically lack dedicated resources for marketing, finance, and other administrative tasks, making the AI's assistance highly valuable. Muse is tailored to Meta's products, with examples including Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts. However, it also integrates with third-party tools like Asana, Dropbox, Shopify, Slack, and Zoom, making it more versatile than a Meta-only tool.

Like OpenAI's Dots, Muse operates in the background, working toward predefined objectives and surfacing relevant information or issues that require human intervention. For instance, it can scan emails and calendars to identify important actions and draft new ad campaigns based on current trends.

Meta claims that Muse will be free for most use cases, but there are paid plans available for businesses that want to fully utilize agentic AI. The $20/month Power plan offers 500 million weekly tokens, while the $100/month Max plan provides 3 billion weekly tokens. It's worth noting that Meta initially released Muse for US and Canadian customers, followed by the SMB variant, while OpenAI's Dots was designed with businesses in mind from the start. There is currently no information on whether Meta plans to launch a consumer variant of Muse.
