MEA Issues Fresh Warning To Indians Being Lured Into Russian Armed Forces

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a fresh advisory for Indian nationals considering travel to Russia. The warning specifically alerts against being recruited into the Russian armed forces. This comes in the wake of ongoing reports of Indian citizens being lured into joining the Russian military. The Indian government has repeatedly over the past two years highlighted the risks and dangers associated with such a decision.

The MEA has also advised Indian citizens to exercise extreme caution when seeking employment abroad, particularly when job opportunities are presented by unverified entities. The advisory underscores that several instances have been reported where individuals have willingly pursued offers to join the Russian armed forces, under the impression of receiving financial benefits.

Later, they hope to return to India with the help of the Indian government. The government has made it clear that such a course of action is perilous and strongly discouraged. The MEA's advisory further cautions Indians who are seeking employment opportunities abroad to thoroughly verify job offers before accepting them, especially if such offers might entail joining a foreign military.
