Man with 27 previous criminal records held after lorry chase in Pasir Gudang

A man in his thirties with a criminal history of 27 offenses was detained today in the Pasir Gudang area, Malaysia, after allegedly stealing a lorry and attempting to flee from the police, according to reports. The incident transpired around 7:20 am when police received a tip-off about a stolen lorry in the Plentong area. The public soon came forward with information, reporting the lorry's presence in the Tanjung Langsat Industrial Area, Pasir Gudang.

Upon receiving this intelligence, police swiftly located the vehicle but the suspect resisted arrest. He engaged in dangerous driving, ramming a police patrol car before ultimately being apprehended in the Pasir Gudang region at 10:20 am, reported Sohaimi Ishak, the Seri Alam police chief.

During the inspection of the lorry, police discovered a transparent packet containing a suspected drug substance. Further examination revealed that the suspect had a criminal record specifically for drug-related offenses. Additionally, he tested positive for methamphetamine. The case is now being investigated under the Penal Code, Road Transport Act 1987, and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The police have requested a remand order against the suspect for tomorrow's hearing. Earlier, a video depicting several police vehicles pursuing the green lorry in the Pasir Gudang area had circulated widely on social media.
