Man allegedly swallows five SIM cards to conceal evidence after arrest

A 27-year-old man, Awudu Baba, is under arrest for allegedly swallowing five SIM cards, according to the Central East Regional Police Command. The suspect was apprehended with five mobile phones, including an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and Samsung A12, along with the SIM cards, at a police checkpoint on the Kasoa - Bawjiase Highway around midnight on September 19.

DCOP Francis Nchor revealed that the suspect removed the SIM cards from the phones in an attempt to hide evidence before his arrest. Investigations later confirmed that the stolen phones were allegedly taken from Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region. The police are now actively searching for the rightful owners of the recovered devices and urging residents who believe their phones may be among the recovered ones to contact the command with relevant details. Awudu Baba remains in police custody while the investigation continues.
