Malaysia has 'nothing to lose' against India, says Eain Yow

NAGOYA: National squash player Eain Yow has stated that India will be the ones under pressure when Malaysia takes on their team in the semi-finals of the men's team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday. Having won the men's singles gold medal earlier, Eain Yow believes Malaysia will aim to sustain their momentum heading into the tie at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.

According to Eain Yow, all the pressure should be placed on Team India, as they are entering with a strong squad. All three players are likely performing at their best, he noted. Malaysia, being the lowest seed, has nothing to lose and everything to gain in the upcoming match, he added. The squash player reiterated his plan to maintain the same strategy, focusing on ensuring his body is in optimal condition for the game.

Malaysia secured their place in the final four following a 2-0 victory over Japan in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. Sanjay Jeeva gave Malaysia the lead with a 11-4, 11-8, 7-11, 11-3 win over Endo Tomotaka before Eain Yow sealed the win with a 11-6, 11-9, 11-6 victory over Ryunosuke Tsukue. The player expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, praising Sanjay's efforts and the three-set win.

Malaysia's women's squad also advanced to the semi-finals after a 2-0 triumph over Macau in their last eight encounter. Aira Azman contributed to the win with an 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 victory over Liu Kwai Chi, while S Sivasangari added another point with an 11-6, 11-8, 11-9 win over Yeung Weng Chi. Malaysia will now face Japan for a spot in the final, while India will square off against Hong Kong in the other semi-final.
