‘Lifecycle completed’: Honda Atlas discontinues BR-V production in Pakistan

Honda Atlas Cars Ltd (HACL) has announced the discontinuation of the Honda BR-V production in Pakistan, with the HR-V, City, and Civic remaining in the company's local lineup, Business Recorder reported on Wednesday. A top official of HACL revealed that the decision to stop producing the BR-V was made three to four months ago, indicating the company had planned for the transition.

The official explained that launching a new model in the present economic situation was challenging, given that the BR-V had been introduced around ten years ago. They also highlighted that offering the Honda Civic, City, and HR-V would continue to be part of the local market. The company's spokesperson emphasized that it was impossible to introduce a new model with the latest features in the current tough business environment of the country.

Furthermore, the BR-V had completed its product lifecycle, leading to the discontinuation of its production. Auto expert Usman Ansari pointed out that while the BR-V had an SUV-like appearance, it was essentially a seven-seater van with old features and a non-turbocharged engine. He noted that the vehicle was sold at nearly three times its original price, despite its outdated specifications.

Ansari stated that the BR-V had already been discontinued in India a few years ago, although its design had been modified in Malaysia and Indonesia, where it is currently being sold.
