Kano village head found dead days after abduction

Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, the village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, was abducted by suspected bandits on September 17, 2026. Ahmad was taken from his residence at night during an attack on the community. His remains were discovered four days later in a shallow grave at Danladin Gezawa, according to a local resident, Musa Garba.

The assailants reportedly tortured Ahmad to death, cutting off one of his legs and binding his hands behind him before his brutalization led to his demise. Garba stated that the deceased's wife identified the remains after they were taken to a hospital, where the death was confirmed. The body was already decomposing when recovered and was subsequently buried.

As of the time of this report, the Kano State Police Command has not released an official statement on the incident.
