Israeli attacks on Gaza kill seven as ‘ceasefire’ violations continue

Israeli strikes killed at least six Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to territory's health officials. The first attack, an airstrike on a vehicle in Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City, resulted in the deaths of at least four people and left 14 others wounded. Later in the day, another airstrike targeting an apartment in the city claimed the life of a woman.

On the same day, an Israeli airstrike near a mosque in Khan Younis claimed a single life. By the end of the day, the reported death toll across Gaza had reached at least six.

The Israeli military has not commented on the reported strikes. Israel claims that Hamas has been rearming and launching attacks in violation of an October ceasefire. In response, Israel has intensified its strikes on the group in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Hamas denies any involvement in attacks or efforts to rebuild its arsenal, accusing Israel of undermining the Gaza peace deal.

The US-brokered ceasefire from last year mandates eventual reconstruction of the territory. However, progress has been slow as negotiators have struggled to agree on terms for Hamas to disarm and Israel to withdraw its troops. Since the ceasefire, at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to health officials, while Israel reports four of its soldiers have been killed.

Palestinian authorities estimate that more than 74,000 people have lost their lives in Israel's assault on Gaza.
