IRGC letter to American voters is desperate smokescreen, US says

The US State Department on Wednesday dismissed an open letter from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to the American public as a desperate attempt to obscure the impact of military action against Tehran. According to a State Department spokesman, the letter's attempt to deceive the American people does not alter the harsh realities about Iran's regime, which is known for its malicious activities both domestically and internationally.

The spokesman accused Iran of consistently opting for "terror over prosperity," stating that the Iranian people are the ones suffering due to these actions, and that US operations have significantly weakened Iran's defense industrial base, navy, and air force while causing substantial damage to its missile capabilities. On Tuesday, the IRGC released a 26-page open letter addressed to the honorable people of the US, urging them to reject President Donald Trump's policies before the upcoming midterm elections.

The letter criticized Trump for concealing the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program and downplaying the effectiveness of Tehran's blockade on Gulf oil. The IRGC's spokesman, Hossein Mohebbi, admitted that he did not anticipate the letter to influence the US administration's actions within five weeks of the midterm elections.

However, he believed that voters might be swayed by its message. The letter portrayed the conflict between the two nations as a catastrophic defeat for Washington, claiming that Iran had achieved a decisive victory. The letter called for the removal of "evil, deceitful, and violent politicians" responsible for America's current state and urged voters to entrust their affairs to wise leaders.

The US Rewards for Justice program offered up to $15 million for information that could disrupt the financial network of the IRGC's Aerospace Force, which US officials claim supports IRGC operations, weapons development, and procurement.
