iPad Mini 8 to Offer These 10 New Features

The upcoming iPad mini 8 is set to introduce ten notable upgrades compared to its predecessor. Apple's A20 Pro chip, built using TSMC's advanced 2nm process, promises a significant performance boost with up to 1.5 times faster CPU performance and up to 2.5 times faster GPU performance than the current A17 Pro chip. The A20 Pro also incorporates a dual 16-core Neural Engine, totaling 32 cores.

The next-generation iPad mini will feature 12GB of RAM, an upgrade from the current 8GB, providing enhanced multitasking capabilities. Additionally, the device will support customizable Siri AI voice, a first for this line of devices.

Apple is reportedly introducing an OLED display with improved image quality, offering richer colors and higher contrast ratios, as well as true blacks, compared to the current LCD model. The design of the new iPad mini also includes slimmer bezels around the display compared to its predecessor.

The innovative landscape front camera, situated in the right bezel when the device is held upright, marks a design change from the traditional top bezel placement. The iPad mini 8 will also come equipped with Apple's custom-designed N1 chip, featuring Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support, along with Apple's custom-designed C1X or C2 modem for cellular configurations.

A redesigned speaker system, which reportedly lacks visible speaker holes and may feature a top bezel speaker resembling an iPhone earpiece, is another anticipated feature. Lastly, the upcoming iPad mini 8 will offer IP-rated water resistance for the first time. Apple is expected to unveil the new model this year, with an October launch most probable.

The current iPad mini starts at $599, a price increase of $100 in June due to soaring RAM and storage chip costs. The next model may be even more expensive, given the costlier OLED display.
