Indore’s MGM Medical College Faces Fresh Ragging Complaint, NMC Seeks 24-Hour Report

Indore's MGM Medical College is facing a fresh allegation of ragging, leading the National Medical Commission's anti-ragging cell to request a 24-hour report from the institution. According to a complaint filed by first-year MBBS students, senior students entered their hostel during the early hours of the morning and knocked on room doors, pressing juniors to come out.

The students feared for their safety and refused to open their doors. Additionally, it is alleged that during the Ganpati festival, juniors were summoned to a meeting where their mobile phones were confiscated. The students have requested action under anti-ragging regulations and relevant court directives. The college administration has initiated a review of CCTV footage from Block 6, where first-year students reside, and the anti-ragging committee has recorded statements from the affected students.

If the footage or statements confirm any violations, action will be taken under the established rules. The incident has sparked concerns about the enforcement of hostel rules and security during late-night hours, as seniors are reportedly barred from entering Block 6, which houses first-year MBBS students. This is the second ragging-related complaint in the past 10 days, following a similar allegation made against a PG student at MTH Hospital last week.
