I'm Donut, the viral Japanese bakery chain, opening first Singapore outlet

Japanese bakery chain I m Donut is set to launch its first outlet in Singapore, the company announced via social media on Monday. The brand, known for its pillowy doughnuts, revealed a hoarding image with the caption "2026 – Coming Soon", hinting at an early 2026 opening. I m Donut Singapore's official account was also launched on the same day.

Established in Japan in 2022, I m Donut is renowned for its unique doughnuts made with a special brioche dough. This dough, a blend of various wheat types and pumpkin, is fermented slowly at low temperatures before being quickly fried at high heat, resulting in a chewy and elastic texture. Popular flavors include the original doughnut with brown sugar sprinkles, the matcha doughnut, and the custard doughnut.

This announcement follows I m Donut's grand opening in Malaysia on September 12, which also marked the company's first outlet in Southeast Asia. The Malaysian store, located at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur, uses a special dough recipe featuring banana. Additional exclusive flavors at the Malaysian location include banana fritter caramel, Milo, and pandan.
