ILT20 2026 auction: Will a UAE player break $200,000 barrier?

The ILT20 2026 auction in Dubai on Thursday will see leading UAE cricketers hoping to secure lucrative contracts for themselves and their respective franchises. With each of the six franchises required to have four UAE players in their squad, 24 contracts are up for grabs, with at least one player in each quartet needing to be capped by the senior national team and another under 23 years old.

Players participating in the auction will be hoping for substantial paydays, as the minimum individual salary is set at $10,000. In last year's auction, West Indies batter Andre Fletcher broke the $200,000 barrier, receiving a top fee of $260,000. Junaid Siddique attracted the biggest bid for a UAE player, earning $170,000 to play for Sharjah Warriorz.

The domestic players had the chance to showcase their abilities through the Development Tournament, which was won by Gulf Giants last week. However, it remains unclear which local contenders will be the most attractive this season, as many of the leading players in the country may be unavailable due to the tournament clashing with the penultimate phase of qualifying for the ODI World Cup, scheduled from December 1-20.

The outcome of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off, which has not yet been confirmed by the ICC, will determine which teams advance to the World Cup Qualifier in February and March 2027.
