‘If Nollywood were strictly about talent, I should be far beyond where I am’ — Actor Tayo Faniran

Nollywood actor Tayo Faniran has shared his perspective on the Nigerian film industry, suggesting that success in Nollywood is not solely based on talent. During a recent interview on TVC’s eSplash, the actor alleged that some of the most prominent producers in the industry may not be the most skilled individuals in their field.

Faniran noted that public perception often contrasts with the actual talent levels within the industry. “In Nollywood, the film producers you guys see and know as the biggest are not the most talented film producers,” he expressed. The actor further reflected on his own career trajectory, believing that if Nollywood were based solely on talent, his progress would have been significantly greater.

“If Nollywood were strictly about talent, I should be far beyond where I am. There is a lot of rigging in the industry,” Faniran added.
