How Tracker Plans To Address One Of Its Biggest Unsolved Mysteries In Season 4
Tracker EP Elwood Reid tells TVLine about plans to revisit the mystery of Mel's mother's murder in Season 4 - and how Jensen Ackles' Russell could get involved.
In Season 3 of the CBS procedural "Tracker", showrunner Elwood Reid revealed that the mystery surrounding Mel's mother would be explored further in Season 4. Mel, whose real name is Melanie Day, is a new assistant introduced at the beginning of Season 3. Her mother, an Army logistics officer, was found shot to death in her car when Mel was just 16, and her killer was never found.
This tragic backstory explains Mel's aversion to bureaucracy and adds depth to her character. Reid mentioned that this story could potentially involve Colter, and hinted at the possibility of Russell's return to the series. The introduction of this mystery was initially hinted at but left unresolved in Season 3. Now, as the show heads into Season 4, Reid confirmed that they would be building this storyline, potentially providing a reason for Russell's return.
