Hawaii Grown Report: Keeping up with isle athletes at mainland colleges

HAWAII GROWN ATHLETES SHINE AT MAINLAND INSTITUTIONS

Several athletes from Hawaii are making waves at colleges across the mainland United States. In division I football, Kealii Ah Yat from Kamehameha led Montana to a 62-22 victory with 241 passing yards and two touchdowns. Zaiden Wallace, transferring from Nevada to Campbell, recorded his first collegiate tackle. Koa Akui of Hilo contributed five tackles to Rice's 38-24 loss.

AJ Bianco from Saint Louis University scored on a 9-yard touchdown run against Air Force, marking his first rushing TD since 2023. Charles Correa from Saint Louis University intercepted a pass for the first time in his career during a 49-10 loss to Notre Dame. Iapani Laloulu from Farrington stepped up as the starting quarterback when Dante Moore left the game in a 41-27 win over USC.

Liona Lefau from Kahuku matched his career-high of nine tackles in a 23-13 loss to Baylor. Jacob Maiava from Kahuku helped set a school record with a 95% completion rate for Keyone Jenkins in Central Florida's 21-13 win over Texas Christian. Jayden Maiava from Kahuku threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns for USC, his first loss of the season.

Aiden Manutai from Kahuku recorded his first career sack in a 24-10 loss to Clemson. Moe Passi from Kamehameha had six tackles in Utah Tech's 37-13 loss to Northern Colorado. Gino Quinones from Saint Louis paved the way for 249 rushing yards and kept his quarterback from being sacked in a 38-24 win over Rice. Madden Soliai from Kahuku collected a career-high six tackles in Boise State's 32-7 win over Western Michigan.

Tuli Tagovailoa-Amosa from Kahuku had a career-high seven tackles in a 26-10 loss to Fresno State. Terahiti Wolfe from Kahuku intercepted two passes in Portland State's 44-41 win over Weber State. John-Keawe Sagapolutele from Punahou threw his first touchdown pass of the season while covering 161 yards against Colorado State. Nash Burkart from Kapaa made his first career tackle on kickoff coverage.

In volleyball, Rella Binney from Punahou had a career-high 54 assists with 14 digs in Texas, while Grace Fiaseu from Punahou recorded her season-high 18 kills in a win over San Jose State. Emma Lilo from Kamehameha had a double-double with 28 assists and 12 digs against Miami, but her streak ended in Miami's 3-2 win over Florida State.

Carlyn Rapozo-Kamoku from Kapaa reached double figures in digs for the first time, and Kekua Richards from Seabury Hall had eight kills and eight blocks in Colorado State's 3-1 win over San Diego State. Maui Robins from Kamehameha had 16 kills with two errors in Seattle, while Kala Chock from Kamehameha added 11 kills and three blocks to be named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week for the third time.

Marley Roe from Kahameha earned her sixth double-double of the season with 19 assists and 13 digs against Portland State.
