Fuel price hike: Atiku condemns arrest of five Nigerians over ‘Tinubu Must Go’ T-Shirts

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed outrage over the arrest of five Nigerians wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Tinubu Must Go" in Borno State. The former VP's spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, revealed that Atiku demanded the immediate release of the detainees, questioning the legality of their arrest based on a political slogan.

Atiku pointed out that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who previously protested against fuel subsidy removal under Goodluck Jonathan, is now facing a cost-of-living crisis that has made essential goods unaffordable. The political heavyweight criticized Tinubu for granting his own right to protest while denying citizens the same freedom.

Atiku urged authorities to disclose the detainees' locations, provide them with access to their families and legal counsel, and release them if the T-shirt slogan was the sole basis for their arrest. He emphasized that citizens should be free to express their dissent, just as Tinubu did when criticizing Jonathan's policies.
