Focus on education not quick success, A’Ibom PDP gov candidate urges youths

Akwa Ibom PDP gubernatorial candidate Engr. Emem Coffie has urged Nigerian youths to prioritize education and skill acquisition over quick success. Coffie, speaking to journalists, warned that the belief that education is a waste of time could hinder youth development, emphasizing that academic knowledge forms the basis for specialization and professional competence.

He has sponsored students in Akwa Ibom, Enugu, and Abuja, and believes education is crucial, especially in technical fields where practical knowledge is supported by a scientific understanding. Coffie advocated for reforms to enable early university completion, talent identification, and specialization in chosen careers. He stressed that university education is not the only path to success and called for government support for vocational training, entrepreneurship, and small businesses.

Coffie identified key sectors like oil and gas, refineries, and steel plants for employment generation and proposed apprenticeship schemes for job preparation in these industries.
