Effia MP calls for Kurt Okraku’s removal, overhaul of Ghana football structure

Effia's Member of Parliament Isaac Boamah-Nyarko has called for President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Okraku to step down and for a complete overhaul of Ghana's football administration following the Black Stars' 4-2 loss to The Gambia. Boamah-Nyarko believes the defeat evidences the decline of Ghana football and advocates for dismantling current structures to restore competitiveness and public confidence.

He insists the GFA, Ministry, and all other football institutions must take responsibility for the team's struggles, suggesting a complete breakdown and rebuilding of Ghana's football system. Boamah-Nyarko criticizes the current GFA leadership and demands Kurt Okraku to resign, stating that it's a "no brainer." He proposes returning to a system where sports existed at district, regional, and national levels, and the local league had its own place.

Boamah-Nyarko argues that the Black Stars' problems cannot be solved merely by changing coaches or players, and calls for rebuilding Ghana's football development system from the grassroots level, with stronger structures for identifying and developing talent at district and regional levels. His remarks follow the Black Stars' 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium, leaving Ghana without a win in their opening two Group C matches.
