Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the fifth edition of the Student Awareness Community Team (SACT) competition for the 2026-2027 academic year, inviting students from 106 government preparatory and secondary schools for boys and girls to participate.
The launch event took place at the Ministry's permanent headquarters from September 27 to 29, where students received training on the competition's mechanisms and objectives, preparing them for the various stages of the competition.
For the first time, a pilot edition for primary school students was introduced, with participation from 14 government schools for boys and girls. The training program focused on enhancing students' public speaking skills, aiming to bolster their leadership abilities and self-confidence while fostering constructive civic dialogue.
This year's main theme for preparatory and secondary school students is "Empowerment and Prosperity in a Changing World." Students will present their ideas on social issues related to the theme through public speaking, addressing challenges and proposing solutions and recommendations.
Sub-themes explored include the pressures and hidden challenges faced by adolescents, adapting to conflicts and crises to build psychological resilience, artificial intelligence's role in shaping future societies, and youth leadership's role in achieving sustainability.
The competition is overseen by the English Language Section of the Ministry's Educational Guidance Department, with a team of English language teachers providing training to participating students on communication and presentation skills, strengthening their leadership abilities, and boosting their confidence in public speaking and dialogue.
The final qualifiers will be announced in January 2027, with the closing and awards ceremony scheduled for February 2027. Winners in various categories will receive three places each, along with certificates of thanks and appreciation for all qualifying students.
