Coupon Calculator, A lightweight Flask app

I crafted this lightweight Flask app to streamline checkout calculations, ensuring speed, clarity, and accuracy. The tool assists users in swiftly determining discount amounts and final prices before or during purchases, as well as cashiers who must perform coupon calculations manually, such as myself. By enforcing strict logic, the app minimizes errors from improper input or intricate rounding.

Driven by my journey to enhance programming skills, I developed this app after beginning a cashier position. My dyscalculia makes handling math challenging, resulting in confusion and mistakes during fast-paced checkout processes or while assisting seniors who may feel uneasy with technology. My goal was to create a straightforward, dependable, and user-friendly calculator that reduces arithmetic errors and fosters transparent pricing.

The application enables users to:

- Input the original price

- Select a percentage discount or a fixed discount amount

- Verify inputs before calculations

- View the exact sum saved

- Examine the final price after the discount is applied

Designed for typical shopping situations where a rapid and dependable estimate is required, the app features:

- Percentage discounts up to 100%

- Fixed-amount discounts

- Negative-value validation

- Protection against invalid numeric input

- Currency-safe rounding to two decimal places

- A clear, simple interface for swift use

For me, this project serves as a practical solution that emerged from a genuine need, embodying the type of developer I aspire to be. My intention is to resolve issues using uncomplicated, beneficial solutions, with the hope that something I create will eventually benefit others, though perhaps not to that extent.
