Congress Workers Storm Election Office In MP’s Ujjain, Burn CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s Effigy

On Wednesday, Congress workers in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, staged a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and condemning alleged vote rigging across the nation. The demonstrators marched from Tarantal Square to the election office at Kothi, disregarding barriers set up by the administration and entered the premises of the election office within the Administrative Complex Building.

Workers engaged in the protest burned an effigy of the CEC and smeared soot on his face in a poster. Women leaders joined the demonstration by physically assaulting Kumar's photograph with slippers.

District Congress Committee president and MLA Mahesh Parmar, clutching a copy of the Constitution, blamed the current government for being elected through vote fraud. He claimed that the country's youth had emerged under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and alleged that the government was jeopardizing the future of students. He also accused the government of stealing crores of votes.

City Congress Committee president Mukesh Bhati labeled Kumar as a BJP agent and alleged that Rahul Gandhi had exposed vote fraud. Madhya Pradesh Congress Sewa Dal president Avanish Bhargava accused the BJP of assembling governments in states by stealing votes. Leader of Opposition in Ujjain Municipal Corporation Ravi Rai contended that the CEC, whose duty is to safeguard democracy and voting rights, was endangering democracy by erasing voters' names from the electoral rolls.
