China extends two trade barrier probes into US till December 27

China has decided to extend two investigations into US trade practices that began in March for an additional three months, until December 27, a ministry statement confirmed. The decision was made due to the complexity of the cases, as disclosed in two separate statements dated September 27. These extensions come just days after China and the US engaged in new trade talks, agreeing to a two-month extension of their trade truce through January 10 and tariff reductions on $60 billion worth of goods.

The two trade barrier investigations were initially launched on March 27 and were focused on US trade practices and measures that "disrupt global supply and industrial chains" as well as "hinder trade in green products." These cases were in response to US Section 301 investigations into forced labor and excess industrial capacity, which were initially set to conclude within six months but may now be extended.
