ChatGPT Gets $500 Pro Plan as OpenAI Halves Pro 200 Limits

OpenAI introduced a new $500-per-month ChatGPT Pro 500 plan while cutting usage limits for its existing $200 Pro tier. DevDay 2026 showcased over 20 new offerings, including enhanced ChatGPT, Codex, agents, and developer tools. ChatGPT now enjoys 1.2 billion weekly users. The Pro 500 Plan grants the highest consumer usage allowance at 25 times the ChatGPT Plus allowance, with access to Ultrafast generation, capable of producing up to 300 tokens per second in Codex, up to 8 times faster than standard generation.

GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is available now, and GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast arrives later. Existing subscribers will retain their previous allowance through October 29, 2026, after which the reduced limits apply. The $200 Pro tier does not return the five-hour usage window. ChatGPT Space enables teammates to collaborate using shared files and context.

Pages format allows joint writing, research, generation of charts, and image creation. Slides export to PowerPoint and Google Slides is in development. Business and Enterprise customers can create teams, schedule recurring tasks, and use @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams. Actions in connected tools require approval. The Meetings plugin records audio locally on Mac devices, generates summaries and action items, and saves them to ChatGPT Space.

Codex can now run cloud tasks offline, and the refreshed CLI offers voice controls and multiple agent management. Code Review, Codex Security Cloud, and computer-use support in the Agents API have been introduced. OpenAI continues to expand ChatGPT's capabilities beyond conversations into a broader work platform, covering documents, coding, collaboration, agents, and productivity software.
