Car wash worker dies after suspected stabbing in Meru

A 25-year-old car wash worker in Meru, Kenya, named Muthamia, passed away after allegedly being stabbed at his workplace in the Kaciongo area of Maua, Meru County. The incident was reported on September 29, 2026, when a concerned citizen called the police to report that Muthamia had been found lying beside the road. Police arrived at the scene and rushed the injured worker to Nyambene Sub-County Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Muthamia succumbed to his injuries while under treatment.

Upon arrival at the hospital, medical personnel discovered a single stab wound on Muthamia's right shoulder. Police officers visited the hospital and confirmed the nature of the injuries, suspecting that Muthamia may have been attacked by a colleague with whom he worked at the car wash yard in Kaciongo. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

The police conducted a Crime Scene Investigation, documenting the scene and initiating an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Muthamia's death. His body was then transported to the Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
