Cancer awareness at CERN: Pink October and Blue November campaigns
Breast cancer and prostate cancer are among the most common cancers worldwide, but early detection saves lives. Regular screening, awareness of risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices are key to prevention and to better outcomes in the event of illness. At CERN, the Medical Service is actively promoting cancer awareness during the months of October and November with the Pink October and Blue November campaigns. Breast cancer and prostate cancer are among the most common cancers globally, but early detection can significantly improve outcomes. To raise awareness, the Medical Service is partnering with Ma Bulle Rose to host dedicated stands at various restaurants on CERN's premises, where healthcare professionals will be available to answer questions and provide practical advice.
During Pink October (October 6th-8th), visitors can find the stands between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Restaurant 3 (Prévessin), Restaurant 2, and the entrance to Restaurant 1 (500-203). During Blue November (November 3rd-5th), the same times and locations will be occupied with stands to offer similar support.
The stands aim to inform attendees about the importance of regular screening, recognizing risk factors, and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Interactive activities will be offered to help individuals become more familiar with their bodies, understand potential warning signs, and know when to seek medical advice. By taking small steps, people can make a significant difference in their health and the health of their loved ones.
