Assam woman Uber bike death: A life full of friends and dreams, cut short

In a tragic accident, Hrishita Lahon, a 22-year-old English Literature graduate from Assam, lost her life in Delhi. Hrishita had moved to the capital city in pursuit of her dreams and aspirations, making new friends and cultivating friendships that felt like family to her. Living in Delhi was not easy for her, but her friends supported her through the challenges she faced.

On Monday, the young woman died after a road accident at the Ashram flyover, where she was travelling on an Uber bike taxi around 10 am. A DTC bus allegedly hit the motorcycle from behind, leading to her untimely demise at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. Hrishita had a close circle of friends, and her friends, in turn, were like family to her.

She was admired for her kind and caring nature, often going to great lengths to help those she considered friends. Hrishita's close friends, Shubhankur and Rishita Mech, spoke fondly of her, describing her as a "friend's friend" and someone who would do anything for her friends. On her last birthday, Hrishita and Rishita Mech attended a Rakhi celebration for their third friend, Ayushi Nayak.

Hrishita had a simple nature and remained attached to her roots in Shillong, where she completed her 11 and 12 classes. She was attached to Assamese culture and had a passion for photography. Hrishita's life was tragically cut short, leaving behind a void filled with cherished memories of her life, dreams, and the beautiful friendships she had cultivated in Delhi.
