[ASIAN GAMES] Sport climber Lee Do-hyun grabs silver in men's boulder

NAGOYA, Japan — In the men's boulder event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, South Korean climber Lee Do-hyun secured silver, marking Korea's first medal in the sport at the event. Lee earned 49.7 points, placing him second to Japanese star Sorato Anraku, who earned a higher 74.5 points at the Portmesse Nagoya Exhibition Hall. Tomoa Narasaki of Japan claimed bronze with 44.9 points.

This marked Lee's second consecutive Asian Games silver, preceded by one in the combined event in 2023. Boulder requires climbers to complete the most routes in the fewest attempts on 4-meter walls, with points awarded for finishing routes and mid-way holds, while losing points for failed attempts. The maximum score possible is 100 points.

Despite not scoring on his first attempt, Lee bounced back to earn 24.9 points twice more, while Anraku scored perfectly 25 points in the first boulder and Narasaki got 24.9 points. However, Lee regained his composure to earn 24.9 and then 24.8 points in the subsequent two boulders. Anraku scored 24.8 in the second boulder and 24.7 in the third.
