[ASIAN GAMES] S. Korea's Jang Se-yun wins silver in women's judo

Nagoya, Japan - Korean judoka Jang Se-yun secured the silver medal in the women's 52-kilogram category at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday, marking the nation's first judo medal in the Games. Jang's victory came at the expense of Uzbekistan's Sita Kadamboeva, who was disqualified from the final due to a hansoku-make, or disqualification, after accumulating three shidos, or yellow cards, during overtime.

The final, held at the Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, central Japan, saw both competitors trade two shidos each in regulation time. The match continued into overtime, where Jang was penalized for a third shido, ultimately conceding the gold to Kadamboeva. This marks Korea's inaugural judo medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

China's Xu Aoyu and Japan's Kokoro Fujishiro each took home the bronze medals. Jang's journey to the final was notable, as she had triumphed over Fujishiro twice in the round of 16 and quarterfinal stages, making it her fourth encounter with the Japanese judoka.
