(Asiad) Teen archer voices confidence in another medal after helping team to bronze

Okazaki, Japan, on September 30, teenager archer Kang Yeon-seo became South Korea's youngest medalist at the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Kang, along with Park Jung-yoon, 29, and Park Ye-rin, 20, won the bronze medal in the women's team event. After securing a narrow 229-228 victory over Chinese Taipei, Kang expressed her determination to achieve more despite her young age.

She emphasized that her rigorous training has prepared her for future success, including the individual event. Kang, who has made it to the quarterfinals in the women's individual event, was pleased with her team's performance but acknowledged the close loss to India, which secured its second consecutive gold medal. Teammate Park Ye-rin expressed confidence that South Korea could defeat India in future matches.

The bronze medal match saw intense drama, as Chinese Taipei's final archer, Huang I-Jou, needed a challenging 10 to win outright or force a shoot-off. However, she shot an 8, a rare score in compound archery. Kang and her team nearly secured the gold but fell short, marking this bronze medal as particularly special as it was their first Asian Games participation.
