(Asiad) S. Korea grabs silver in mixed team event in compound archery

In Okazaki, Japan, Park Jung-yoon and Choi Yong-hee secured a silver medal in the mixed team event of compound archery at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday. This marked the second medal for South Korea in the sport at the competition. However, their victory was short-lived as they ultimately lost to India's Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav by a narrow margin of 20-19 in the final at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square.

The teams had initially tied at 157 points after four ends, with no archer from either side gaining an advantage. India managed to prevail in the shoot-off, securing its second consecutive Asiad gold medal. Earlier in the day, Park contributed to South Korea's bronze medal in the women's team event, while Taniparthi led India to its second straight gold.

In the compound mixed team event, cumulative scoring decides the winner. Each archer shoots two arrows per end, totaling four arrows and a maximum of 40 points per end for each team. The team with the highest score after four ends emerges victorious. India dominated the first two ends, achieving perfect 40s, while South Korea trailed 80-78 halfway through the competition.
