Alleged EFCC probe: ADC urges Enugu govt to come clean on commissioner’s reported resignation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State has expressed concerns over alleged events involving the State Commissioner for Transport, Dr Obi Ozor. Reports suggest that Ozor may have resigned following an interrogation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the procurement of aircrafts for the Enugu Airport. Upon returning to his duties, Ozor reportedly faced repercussions, including being barred from his office and compelled to resign.

The ADC's statement reveals a longstanding skepticism about the Mbah administration's transparency and accountability. They claim that contracts are awarded without competitive bidding, and there is a lack of pre-qualification of contractors. The ADC alleges that the Mbah government has signed memorandums of understanding without transparency regarding negotiations.

Furthermore, the ADC highlights numerous failures of projects under the Mbah administration, such as abandoned smart school projects and collapsed infrastructure. They also state that the Type 3 hospitals constructed during this period are now abandoned, and some roads have collapsed. The party claims that Enugu's GDP and economy have suffered as a result of these missteps.

ADC also mentions the case of Dr. Olasijibomi, the CEO of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, who allegedly stole billions of Naira from the state government without completing his work. The EFCC recovered N1.2 billion from him, but the whereabouts of the remaining N4.5 billion remain unclear.

The ADC assures the people of Enugu State that a vote for the party would lead to fair practices such as competitive bidding and adherence to the Public Procurement Act. Despite the commissioner's silence and the state government's lack of response, the ADC vows to provide relief if elected.
