Aicon Art Becomes AINA Gallery: A New Chapter in Chelsea Begins October 1

AINA Gallery, formerly known as Aicon Art, is set to open its doors in New York's Chelsea neighborhood on October 1. The gallery, designed by studioMDA, will showcase a diverse range of art from South Asian modern masters of the twentieth century and contemporary artists from South Asia, Africa, and their global diasporas. AINA's mission is to provide a dedicated platform for non-Western modernisms and contemporary artists of the Global South, presenting their artistic movements with the scholarly depth and high-level presentation they deserve.

The grand opening will feature an exhibition titled "Other Stories — A Genealogy for the Present," which includes rare works by seminal twentieth-century masters alongside new works by leading contemporary voices. The exhibition's curatorial advisor, Atreyee Gupta, draws inspiration from Rasheed Araeen's 1989 Hayward Gallery exhibition "The Other Story: Afro-Asian Artists in Post War Britain" to explore the historical and critical proposition of the exhibition. AINA Gallery's opening will take place at 550 West 29th Street, NY, from 6-9 PM.
