Actionable Intelligence Leads To Killing Of Most-Wanted LeT Terrorist Hashim Moosa In Budgam

On September 29, 2026, Hashim Moosa, a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, was killed by Indian Army’s 15 Chinar Corps in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in an intelligence-led operation. The operation lasted into the night, ending around 10.30 pm. Moosa, a Pakistani national and former SSG commando, was a known high-value foreign terrorist who had been under surveillance for over 18 months.

He was believed to have entered India in 2023 and had been linked to several deadly attacks, including the August 4, 2023, attack in Halan, the December 21, 2023, DKG ambush, and the May 4, 2024, attack on an IAF convoy in Shastar. He was also in regular contact with LeT commander Sajid Jatt, who was not involved in the Pahalgam attack but had given Moosa a crucial connection to map and disrupt LeT activities in the region.

After receiving specific intelligence about Moosa's location in Budgam, 15 Chinar Corps immediately launched the operation, resulting in the killing of the most-wanted LeT terrorist. The operation also led to the recovery of various weapons and communication devices from the scene, including an AK-47 rifle, two AK magazines, LoRa/Ultra devices, and a mobile phone.
