Academic City presents cybersecurity white paper to Communications Minister

Academic City University has shared a white paper on cybersecurity with the Communications Minister of Ghana, Samuel Nartey George. This occurred following a stakeholder roundtable during the previous year's National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The paper unites insights from academia, industry, and the Cyber Security Authority, offering suggestions to enhance Ghana's cybersecurity infrastructure.

The main topics include cultivating national cybersecurity expertise and skills, encouraging locally created cybersecurity products, and shifting from policy-making to practical execution. The team, made up of representatives from Academic City, the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH), and the Cyber Security Authority, also advocated for greater collaboration among academia, industry, and government to leverage Ghanaian abilities and create solutions to Ghana's cybersecurity issues.

Upon receiving the paper, Mr. George expressed support for the initiative and emphasized once again the critical role that academia plays in Ghana's cybersecurity future. He stressed that policy direction requires strong institutions, industry involvement, and research that can translate into real-world solutions. The Minister also pointed out the necessity of continuous investment in cybersecurity and provided updates on ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana's cybersecurity legislation.

The Ministry is anticipated to examine the recommendations and investigate potential avenues for collaboration as Ghana strives to build a more resilient and trustworthy digital environment.
