Yaa Pono opens up on relationship with Sarkodie, Shatta Wale after diss songs

Yaa Pono has quashed any rumors of lingering discord between himself and his fellow Ghanaian rappers, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale. The rapper from Tema insists that his lyrical exchanges with the two artists should not be misconstrued as personal animosities. He attributes his verbal sparring to the inherent competitive spirit of the rap genre and the entertainment business.

When asked about his relationship with Sarkodie, Yaa Pono emphasized that there is no ill will between the two. He described Sarkodie as his "industry brother" and explained that rap often involves artists asserting their dominance, with competitive lines not always being direct attacks. He reflected on his own humble beginnings in rap battles, where rival rappers engage in lyrical exchanges as part of the competition, and argued that the same competitive fervor is reflected in his music.

Yaa Pono questioned why a boastful line intended to establish his status as one of the top rappers would be automatically perceived as a dig at Sarkodie. He suggested that such interpretations are the responsibility of outsiders. Regarding his collaboration with Shatta Wale, Yaa Pono also dismissed the notion that their past diss songs should hinder future work together.

He stated that he has no issue working with Shatta Wale and that he considers their past verbal battles as part of the industry's competitive nature. He clarified that he allows no personal issues to cloud his professional decisions and would not hesitate to collaborate with Shatta Wale if a song called for his participation. The same principle applies to Sarkodie, emphasizing that he would reach out to either artiste for a musical collaboration if he believes it would add the right energy to the track.
