When will Burj Al Arab reopen? Dubai’s iconic hotel is getting an 18-month makeover

Dubai's iconic Burj Al Arab, a sail-shaped landmark, is set to reopen in October 2027 after an 18-month restoration programme. The hotel, operated by Jumeirah, will welcome guests back following a carefully phased project aimed at preserving its distinctive identity while enhancing its interiors.

The restoration, unveiled in April 2026, is being led by French interior architect Tristan Auer, whose previous works include projects at Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and Les Bains Douches. Auer's mission is to maintain the hotel's unique character while giving the interiors a refreshed look.

The 198-suite luxury hotel, known for its extravagant interiors featuring Swarovski crystals, marble, and gold leaf, has long been a symbol of Dubai's modern skyline. Originally built in 1999, the hotel has consistently attracted attention for its 321-metre sail-shaped structure and world-class services.

Although the hotel will reopen next year, the restoration process is seen as more than just a facelift. Jumeirah CEO Thomas B. Meier described it as a project that marks "a new chapter" for the property while respecting its heritage. The hotel will continue to serve as a symbol of Dubai's ambition and craftsmanship, offering guests the same world-class standards they have come to expect.
