Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Dev Reveals the Most-Played Class — and Who's Bringing Up the Rear

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 developers have revealed which of the seven available classes is the most played in PvE. Tactical class emerged as the top choice, with players selecting it 44.4 million times in the past year. This is followed by Bulwark (40.1 million), Assault (33.3 million), Heavy (30.4 million), Vanguard (27.4 million), Techmarine (22.3 million), and Sniper (20 million).

The Sniper class, known for its Camo Cloak ability, was absent from the list, likely due to it being just behind the Techmarine in popularity. Despite being a powerful class, Sniper is not as accessible or user-friendly as others, and doesn't fit the game's core essence of getting stuck into combat. Bulwark's popularity may be attributed to its recovery and healing abilities, crucial for group survival, and its cool factor.

Tactical's dominance is primarily due to its access to powerful melta weapons and the boss-melting Pyreblaster primary weapon, along with the Auspex Scan class ability that reveals and debuffs enemies in a targeted area, proving game-changing especially on higher difficulties. Despite some classes being viable across all difficulties, Space Marine 2 does an excellent job in ensuring each class remains viable.

The developers also hinted at the inclusion of the Apothecary class in Year 3, which could potentially alter the ranking.
