UP No Longer Known For 'Katta Industry', Now Hub For BrahMos & Fighter Jet Production: Giriraj Singh

Uttar Pradesh’s identity is shifting away from the traditional ‘Katta industry’ and towards modern defense production, including BrahMos missiles and fighter jets, according to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh. He highlighted that improvements in law and order, infrastructure, expressways, air connectivity, and industrial development have transformed the state’s economic landscape.

The minister emphasized that a stronger Uttar Pradesh will contribute to a stronger nation and pointed out that India’s youth, with its power, is a crucial asset. Uttar Pradesh is now recognized as a significant hub for defense manufacturing, modern production, exports, and technology. The minister underlined the state’s evolving industrial capacity, moving beyond traditional sectors to embrace new opportunities in defense, manufacturing, exports, and advanced technology.

He attributed the shift to enhanced law and order, road and air connectivity, and improved industrial infrastructure, which have created new avenues for investment and business. The UPITS-2026 event, where he was the chief guest, served as a platform to showcase the state’s products, entrepreneurship, handicrafts, and industrial prowess on a global scale.

The minister also addressed the opposition’s attempts to destabilize the country and criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his stance on the country’s economic and industrial developments, accusing him of failing to recognize positive changes and creating public confusion.
