Ukrainian Air Force: 112 attack drones detected over Ukraine on Tuesday, 95 shot down

Ukrainian defense firm Vyriy Industries has unveiled a new tactical reconnaissance drone called Slavic, tailored for modern battlefield conditions, according to local reports. The drone's control system mirrors that of DJI's popular Mavic series, making it accessible to current operators. With Ukraine's reliance on foreign drone supplies dwindling, Slavic emerges as a domestic alternative to address the increasing operational needs of Ukrainian forces.

Slavic boasts a tactical range of up to 30 kilometers, surpassing the limitations of the Mavic series, and can remain airborne for a full 1.5 hours due to its robust 40,000 mAh solid-state battery. Operating without GPS, the drone relies on optical positioning for navigation, enabling pilots to select less congested communication channels for enhanced effectiveness in challenging terrains.

Equipped with a daytime 2K digital camera mounted on a three-axis stabilized gimbal, Slavic offers 10x optical and 30x hybrid zoom capabilities, ensuring clear surveillance imagery. The drone is packaged as a ready-to-use solution, eliminating the need for additional field modifications. Vyriy Industries has already conducted initial combat trials with seven units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, with plans for larger-scale production and delivery to the military.

Oleksii Babenko, the founder and CEO of Vyriy Industries, emphasized the evolving nature of warfare, stating that the expanded kill zone necessitates a specialized drone capable of extended and remote operations. The company is also exploring enhancements such as thermal imaging modules for night-time reconnaissance. As Ukraine continues to adapt its arsenal to meet the demands of the modern battlefield, Slavic stands as a promising solution to address the limitations of the dwindling Mavic supply.
