TSC CEO job reopened with Sh698,600 monthly salary

Nairobi, Kenya – The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has re-opened calls for applications to fill the post of Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, after a court ruling compelled the commission to restart the recruitment process. The position offers a monthly gross salary of Sh698,600, along with various perks such as medical coverage, an official vehicle, retirement benefits, and loan facilities for mortgages and car purchases.

The new CEO will oversee the TSC secretariat, handle accounting duties, and ensure the execution of the Commission's policies and decisions.

The role remained vacant following Nancy Macharia's completion of her five-year tenure on June 30, 2025. Evaleen Mitei has been serving as acting Secretary/CEO in the interim. This fresh recruitment follows a High Court ruling on September 17 that invalidated the previous hiring process, finding procedural errors in the initial advertisement.

The new advertisement stipulates that applicants must be Kenyan citizens, possess an education degree, and have a minimum of 10 years' experience in education, administration, management, public administration, human resource management, or financial management.

The successful applicant will serve a five-year term, with the option of reappointment for an additional five-year period. Applications for this position are due on October 30, 2026, by 5pm.
