The Witcher 3 surges to its highest Steam concurrent player-count ever, following Remastered edition's release

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's remastered edition has sparked a surge in its Steam concurrent player base, setting an all-time high. As of the current time, approximately 120,000 players are enjoying the game on the PC platform, making it the ninth most-played game on Steam. This figure does not encompass numbers from other platforms such as GOG, Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.

The SteamDB tracker reveals that The Witcher 3's concurrent player peak surpasses its launch in 2015 (92,000) and its previous peak in January 2020 (103,000) when Netflix's The Witcher series was at its most popular. The remastered edition's release has reignited interest in the 11-year-old role-playing game, boasting a massive player base of 65 million.

Despite the impressive numbers, CD Projekt Red's fantasy RPG continues to enthrall its community, leaving room for the player count to ascend further. As gamers awaken and download the update, the question remains: how high can the numbers go?

The remastered edition introduces various upgrades to The Witcher 3's visuals and gameplay, although the changes might not be as drastic as expected. Still, the game remains unchanged. CD Projekt Red's commitment to game support is evident through the free provision of The Witcher 3's expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood of Wine, along with the remastered edition. This gesture aims to prepare the audience for the upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, slated for release next year.
