The internet is buzzing with speculation that Elon Musk's xAI pulled off a prank with the launch of their new AI product, Dots. OpenAI recently introduced Dots, an always-on AI agent with a playful, blobby avatar. However, the internet's biggest chuckle was reserved for xAI, given that the ".com" domain, "dot.com," belongs to Musk's xAI and currently redirects to the download page for xAI's Grok chatbot app.

The domain name was recently transferred in July, and it's speculated that xAI may have purchased it for normal reasons or to capitalize on mistyped searches, as "dot" could be a typo for "bot." While xAI does not own the "bot.com" domain, nor does it own other obvious typo domains like "vot.com," which is up for sale. The internet's conjecture leans more towards a clever prank, with anonymous X user and xAI observer, @birdabo, being the first to notice the domain name in a viral post.

Regardless of the reason, the circumstance is amusing, and if the intention was indeed to exact petty revenge, securing the "dots.com" domain would be an even more elaborate move.
