TCN Inspects Katsina Substation Ahead of Major Installation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Imcomtel Engineering Limited recently inspected the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation in preparation for a major installation phase. The inspection, led by Usman Idris, Assistant General Manager (Transmission) for the Katsina Sub-Region, included representatives from Imcomtel.

During the review, the team examined ongoing civil works, equipment locations, and supporting infrastructure to ensure the facility was ready for the next stage of the project. A primary focus of the inspection was to assess the site for two 100MVA power transformers, scheduled to arrive on July 9, 2026. Upon installation, these transformers are expected to substantially boost transmission capacity in Katsina State and enhance electricity delivery across the North-West region.

Furthermore, the inspection covered four recently delivered control rooms, with the aim of verifying their preparedness to house vital protection, monitoring, and control systems necessary for the substation's operation. Through this process, TCN and Imcomtel collaborated to review any remaining technical requirements and site preparations ahead of the installation works.
